Our mission is not only to bring quality food to your table, we strive to teach people in general and children in particular about better food practices. We partner with a network of schools, universities and organizations to raise awareness on healthy and sustainable practices.
Maya’s Farm is proud to partner with Sun Produce Cooperative, a farmer-owned organization born from the vision of creating a sustainable system that allows local farmers to stay rooted on their land while expanding access to fresh, local produce across Arizona. Sun Produce supports farms by taking on the critical work of aggregation and distribution, enabling small farms to scale without compromising their core mission. Originally focused on supplying school cafeterias, the cooperative now ensures that unsold produce is redirected to food banks—maximizing impact and minimizing waste. Through this partnership, we help strengthen the regional food system and bring more Arizona-grown food to our communities.
In collaboration with the Arizona Sustainability Alliance, the Help-A-Farm project brings extra hands and open hearts to local farms in Maricopa County. Each month, volunteers join a new farm to support with on-the-ground labor, learn about food systems, and deepen their connection to the land and those who tend it. By strengthening ties between farms and the community, this program helps cultivate a resilient local food culture—one farm, and one experience, at a time.
Maya’s Farm is proud to be partnering with the Mollen Foundation to empower children and families to garden and cook together.
As part of the Edible Classroom series, we are currently working with Garfield Elementary School, teaching hands-on edible education classes to 6th graders. This initiative is part of a broader Farm to School effort, connecting students with fresh, local food and the farmers who grow it. We’re also excited to be involved in the Arizona Farm to School Network, helping to strengthen the bridge between farms, classrooms, and cafeterias across the state.
This project embodies our mission to shine light on sustainable farming and use food as a meaningful learning experience for children.
Maya’s Farm is a pioneer in the sustainability world. We partnered with ASU and AZSA on an agrivoltaics project aiming to power our facilities and increase land efficiency. Agrivoltaics (or agrovoltaics) is the technique that uses the same land for both agricultural and energy generation purposes. AZSA will provide the necessary resources to install the solar panels and the battery storage system. We are thrilled to be a key partner on this project that will allow for research and education on sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.
Our long-standing relationship with ASU has blossomed into a close partnership with the Schools of Sustainability and Humanities, allowing students to take part in the daily activities of the farm and work on sustainable food practices for the future (Dinner 2040).
We are now actively working on creating an internship program involving gardening, farming, and growing for those who want to get a foot in the door!
We also partner with the School of Letters and Cultures to offer an immersive learning experience focused on cultural farming and Phoenix's diverse culinary history.
In addition, Maya’s Farm is proud to support and collaborate with the ASU Farm, a living laboratory at the Polytechnic campus where students explore food systems, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture firsthand. Together, we’re helping grow the next generation of food leaders right here in the Valley.
